London, Wednesday 2 March 2022: Wizz Air announced today that it will support Ukrainian refugees by offering them 100,000 free seats* on all continental European flights departing from Ukraine's border countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania). Wizz Air is committed to helping refugees reach their final destinations, wherever they may be. It has already added larger planes and extra flights from border countries to Europe to help support the movement of refugees if needed.
Additionally, the company recognizes that many refugees have already begun to relocate and may be stranded in other locations. It will therefore also offer a save fare of 29.99** Euros on all other flights (excluding UAE, Iceland and the Canary Islands), as well as a save fare of 69.99** Euros on all flights to the United Arab Emirates United States, Iceland and the Canary Islands.
Ukrainian refugees wishing to book a flight can do so by visiting: https://wizzair.com/#/rescue. The 100,000 free seats and lifesaving fares will be available for travel throughout the month of March. Passengers will be required to provide their passport/Ukrainian identity card at the time of booking and show their passport/Ukrainian identity card at the time of check-in.
Customers are still encouraged to check the company's website, as lower rates may be available. However, the company wants to ensure that all Ukrainian refugees have access to affordable travel, regardless of where they are during this time of crisis.
József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, said: “Our hearts go out to the Ukrainian people during this crisis. We are committed to helping as many Ukrainian refugees as possible reach safety, which is why we will offer them 100,000 free seats from border countries and special rescue fares on all other flights. We would be happy to provide a safe and welcoming journey to these refugees."
